Israel Court Demands Aid Groups Submit Employee Lists
(MENAFN) Israel’s High Court has rejected a petition from international humanitarian organizations working in Palestinian territories and given them 30 days to provide employee lists to the government or face suspension of their activities, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
The petition was submitted by AIDA, an umbrella organization representing 19 international non-governmental groups operating in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, the statement said.
Authorities said the legal challenge followed the organizations’ refusal to hand over details of their local staff, which Israel says is required under NGO registration rules and security screening procedures.
The decision comes amid growing controversy over new Israeli regulations affecting humanitarian work, including requirements to disclose local employees, identify aid recipients, and avoid criticism of Israel as conditions for continuing operations in Gaza and the West Bank, according to reports.
