Palestinian Land Was Set Ablaze in West Bank Amid Israeli Forces Presence
(MENAFN) Palestinian-owned land in the occupied West Bank was set ablaze on Monday evening by individuals described as settlers, under the protection of Israeli forces, according to reports citing an official Palestinian news agency.
Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamra said that fires were started on land in the Umm Nir area of al-Karmil town, south of Hebron. He added that civil defense volunteers from nearby villages, including al-Tuwana and Susya in Masafer Yatta, worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.
In a separate incident, activist and village council member Najeh Ataymat said Israeli authorities recently issued 15 stop-work orders affecting homes, residential buildings, and other facilities in the village of Umm Qusa in the Yatta desert area, also south of Hebron.
According to official Palestinian figures, violence and operations in the occupied West Bank since October 2023 have resulted in 1,162 deaths, around 12,245 injuries, and nearly 23,000 arrests.
