Indonesia Gets Six Rafale Jets, President Vows to Build National Strength

(MENAFN) Indonesia is continuing to expand its military capabilities to enhance deterrence and national defense, President Prabowo Subianto said on Monday during the arrival of new defense equipment, according to state media reports.

The country has received a batch of advanced aircraft and systems, including six Rafale fighter jets, along with additional assets such as four Falcon 8X aircraft, an A-400M transport aircraft, a GCI GM403 radar system, Hammer precision-guided weapons, and Meteor air-to-air missiles, according to reports cited by a news agency.

Speaking at an air base in Jakarta, Prabowo said Indonesia’s defense policy is driven by the need to protect national sovereignty amid what he described as an increasingly uncertain global security environment.

“We have no other interest than to safeguard our own territory. We see the world's geopolitical conditions as full of uncertainty and we know that defense is a primary requirement for stability,” he said.

He stressed that the military buildup is intended solely for defensive purposes and deterrence, not aggression toward other nations.

“In the future, we will continue to build our strength. We want to secure our airspace, seas, and of course, our land,” he added.

According to reports, the Indonesian Defense Ministry has ordered 42 Rafale fighter jets from France’s Dassault Aviation, with the latest procurement phase activating the final tranche of 18 aircraft under the contract.
