Ukraine Signals Readiness for Immediate Reset in Relations with Hungary
(MENAFN) Ukraine is prepared to begin a fresh phase in its relationship with Hungary focused on mutual cooperation and shared interests, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Monday.
Sybiha revealed that he recently held what he described as a “constructive and substantive” phone discussion with his Hungarian counterpart Anita Orban.
According to the Ukrainian diplomat, both sides agreed to launch a new round of expert-level talks between Hungary and Ukraine as early as this week. The discussions are expected to focus on practical and lasting solutions concerning the Hungarian minority living in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region.
Sybiha noted that progress on the issue would strengthen bilateral ties and serve the interests of both nations.
The conversation also covered Ukraine’s efforts to advance toward European Union membership, along with wider regional and international developments, he said in a statement shared on X, the social media platform owned by X.
Last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy voiced willingness to deepen collaboration with Hungary following the parliamentary election victory of the Tisza Party led by Hungarian Prime Minister Magyar.
