International Police Operation in Dubai Targets Online Fraud Networks
(MENAFN) Law enforcement agencies from China, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates conducted their first joint operation in Dubai aimed at combating telecom and internet-based fraud, according to Chinese authorities.
Reports said the coordinated operation led to the dismantling of nine fraud centers and the arrest of 276 suspects.
Investigators found that the groups allegedly targeted victims by posing as romantic partners through social media platforms, gradually gaining trust before persuading them to invest in what were presented as high-profit cryptocurrency opportunities. Authorities said the schemes caused significant financial losses.
According to officials, the operation represents an important step in expanding international cooperation between law enforcement agencies in tackling transnational fraud crimes.
“Chinese police will continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation with more countries, carry out joint crackdowns, thoroughly dismantle telecom fraud dens, and make every effort to apprehend suspects involved in such crimes to effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of people in all countries,” the official said.
The statement was issued by Ministry of Public Security of China.
