Israeli Attack in Eastern Lebanon Kills Palestinian Commander, His Daughter

(MENAFN) A Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander and his teenage daughter were killed early Monday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted an apartment on the outskirts of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, according to Lebanese News Agency.

The report identified the commander as Wael Abdul Halim, stating that he was affiliated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad. His 17-year-old daughter, Rama, was also killed in the strike.

Emergency teams and civil defense units continued working at the site to clear debris and search for any additional survivors, according to the same reports.

The strike was described as another breach of a fragile ceasefire that came into effect on April 17 and was later extended through early July.

Lebanese authorities say that since March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, more than 9,000 injuries, and the displacement of over 1.6 million people—around one-fifth of the country’s population.
