Turkish, German Foreign Ministers Set for Strategic Dialogue Talks in Berlin


(MENAFN) Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Germany on Monday to participate in the third round of the Türkiye-Germany Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, according to official sources.

The meetings in Berlin will be jointly chaired by Fidan and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul. As part of the dialogue process, several working groups focusing on bilateral relations, Türkiye-European Union ties, security and defense cooperation, and regional developments are expected to convene before presenting their findings to the two ministers.

According to reports, Fidan is expected to highlight the positive momentum in relations between Ankara and Berlin, emphasizing that increased high-level engagement in recent periods has contributed to a more constructive atmosphere between the two countries.

He is also expected to stress that the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism has become an important framework for evaluating the broader strategic dimensions of Turkish-German relations and for strengthening coordination between the two foreign ministries. Reports indicated that Fidan believes discussions held through this platform could further deepen cooperation and expand existing partnerships.

The Turkish foreign minister is also expected to underline the importance of the Turkish community living in Germany, describing the diaspora as a key element that strengthens the social and human dimension of relations between the two countries. He is anticipated to reaffirm Ankara’s focus on the welfare, security, and prosperity of Turkish citizens and communities abroad.

Economic cooperation is also expected to feature prominently during the visit, with discussions planned on expanding trade ties and encouraging greater mutual investment between the two nations.

In addition, Fidan is expected to emphasize shared ambitions to strengthen collaboration in areas such as connectivity, advanced technology, digital transformation, and green energy initiatives. Reports also noted that upcoming meetings linked to the Energy Forum and the Joint Economic and Trade Committee are viewed as important steps toward achieving a bilateral trade target of $60 billion.
