Jordan, Estonia, Latvia Explore Expanded Cooperation Amid Regional Talks
(MENAFN) Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held a series of high-level meetings during an official visit to Estonia, engaging with Estonian President Alar Karis as well as senior Latvian and Estonian officials to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional developments, according to official statements.
During his meeting with the Estonian president, Safadi conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Abdullah, while discussions centered on deepening cooperation between the two countries and reviewing key regional issues. In response, the Estonian president asked Safadi to relay his own greetings to the Jordanian monarch and reaffirmed Estonia’s interest in expanding ties with Jordan across multiple sectors.
Safadi also conducted separate talks with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna. These meetings focused on broadening collaboration in areas such as information technology, tourism, investment, cybersecurity, and defence-related industries. Both sides also emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between their private sectors to support economic and technological exchange.
Estonian officials reiterated their commitment to strengthening relations with Jordan both on a bilateral level and within the framework of the European Union, reflecting a shared interest in institutional and strategic cooperation.
In discussions with the Estonian foreign minister, attention also turned to regional security dynamics and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions and restore stability based on sustainable security arrangements. Safadi provided an update on the situation in the occupied West Bank, highlighting concerns over developments linked to illegal measures that, according to reports, are undermining prospects for a two-state solution and a comprehensive peace framework.
The two sides also reviewed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where access to aid remains limited amid an ongoing crisis. Safadi emphasized the necessity of fully implementing all elements of the US presidential plan for Gaza, as stated in official discussions.
Additional regional topics included efforts to stabilize Lebanon, support reconstruction initiatives in Syria, and monitor developments related to the war in Ukraine, reflecting a broader exchange on interconnected geopolitical challenges affecting regional and international stability.
