Erdogan Receives Official Welcome in Kazakhstan Ahead of High-Level Talks

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was formally received in Astana on Thursday by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during an official visit to Kazakhstan, according to reports.

Erdoğan’s convoy passed through streets decorated with Turkish and Kazakh flags before arriving at the Independence Palace, where he was greeted by Tokayev in an official ceremony.

A military honor guard accompanied the reception, with both national anthems performed as Erdoğan inspected the guard of honor. Following the ceremonial welcome, the two leaders exchanged introductions of their delegations and posed for photographs before beginning bilateral discussions.

The visit is expected to include the co-chairing of the sixth meeting of the Türkiye–Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, where the two presidents will review cooperation across political, economic, and strategic areas.

According to reports, the program also includes the signing of multiple bilateral agreements and a joint press conference outlining outcomes of the talks.

Several senior Turkish officials accompanied the president, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, and Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts by Ankara and Astana to deepen cooperation and expand strategic ties across Central Asia.
