Queen Mathilde Leaves Turkey After Economic Mission Visit to Istanbul
(MENAFN) Belgium’s Queen Mathilde left Türkiye on Tuesday after completing a series of engagements in Istanbul connected to the Belgian Economic Mission.
The queen, who arrived in Türkiye on May 10, departed from Istanbul after participating in multiple official meetings, forums, and cultural events during her stay.
Turkish representatives attended Ataturk Airport to see her off before her departure.
During the visit, Queen Mathilde held meetings with first lady Emine Erdogan at Dolmabahce Palace and later met President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Vahdettin Pavilion.
According to reports, she also met Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat at the Belgian Consulate in Istanbul and attended the Türkiye-Belgium Business Forum organized by Türkiye’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK). In addition, she joined senior-level business discussions involving Turkish and Belgian company officials.
Her schedule also included participation in events centered on industrial cooperation, technological development, women’s role in the economy, and collaboration in the biopharmaceutical sector.
As part of her tour, the queen visited the Istanbul Finance Center campus of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, explored Baykar’s Ozdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center, and attended the “Century-Old Elegance” exhibition highlighting Turkish cultural heritage.
She also toured several notable sites across Istanbul, including Ortakoy and the Istanbul Naval Museum.
