Bahrain Jails Three for Life Over Alleged Coordination with Iran’s IRGC
(MENAFN) A court in Bahrain issued life prison terms on Tuesday to three individuals, among them a woman, over accusations of collaborating with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in activities described as threatening to the country, according to reports.
The rulings were delivered by Bahrain’s High Criminal Court in two different cases, with the verdict involving the woman announced separately later in the day.
As stated by reports, the woman was convicted of maintaining contact with what authorities described as the IRGC’s “terrorist organization” with the aim of conducting hostile actions against Bahrain and undermining the nation’s interests. The court also ordered authorities to confiscate materials seized during the investigation.
According to reports, the investigation began after security authorities discovered a social media account allegedly publishing images and location details tied to strategic and sensitive sites across Bahrain.
Authorities further accused the woman of sharing posts considered damaging to Bahrain’s military, political, and economic reputation, in addition to content that allegedly supported and praised Iranian attacks targeting the kingdom.
