Kabul Denies Pakistan Allegations Over Deadly Police Attack

(MENAFN) Afghanistan on Tuesday dismissed Pakistan’s accusations that a deadly assault targeting police officers in the country’s north had been organized from Afghan territory, while calling for what it described as “genuine cooperation” between the neighboring states.

Afghan government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid rejected Islamabad’s allegations that militants based in Afghanistan were behind the weekend attack in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province that left 15 policemen dead.

In a statement shared on X, Mujahid said, "Afghanistan believes that resolving problems is possible through mutual understanding, respect, and genuine cooperation, instead of accusations and threats."

He also reiterated Kabul’s position that Afghan territory "will not be used against any country, and no party will be allowed to carry out activities that could harm the security and stability of the region."

Pakistan lodged an official diplomatic protest on Monday following the Saturday attack in its northern province.

According to reports, Pakistani investigators said evidence and technical intelligence indicated the operation had been conducted by militants allegedly operating from Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also voiced serious concern regarding what it called the persistent use of Afghan territory for attacks targeting Pakistan.

The ministry further stated that "Pakistan reserves the right to respond decisively against the perpetrators of this barbaric act."
