India To Host BRICS Meeting On May 14-15
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi is expected to visit India to attend the BRICS summit in New Delhi, India TV reported.
India currently holds the BRICS presidency and will organise the foreign ministers' meeting later this week.
It said Araghchi's visit reflected growing cooperation between India and Iran under the expanded BRICS framework.
Iran joined the bloc in 2024 alongside Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
BRICS is a group of major emerging economies formed in 2009 that brings together countries such as Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, along with newer members including Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
It was created to strengthen economic cooperation, trade and political coordination among developing countries and to increase their influence in global affairs.
