Israel Strike in Southern Lebanon Kills Six, Injures Seven

(MENAFN) According to reports, an overnight Israeli airstrike struck a residential house in the southern Lebanese town of Kfar Dounine, leaving at least six people dead and seven others injured, Lebanese state media said on Tuesday.

The injured were reportedly transferred to hospitals in the coastal city of Tyre, according to news agency.

In addition to the airstrike, Israeli artillery reportedly shelled areas on the outskirts of the towns of Mansouri and Majdal Zoun early in the morning.

Lebanese officials say that since March 2, Israeli strikes in the country have killed more than 2,840 people and injured over 8,690 others. They also report that more than 1.6 million people have been displaced, amounting to roughly one-fifth of the population.

Despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and later extended until May 17, reports indicate that Israeli forces continue to carry out daily strikes and exchanges of fire in Lebanon involving Hezbollah positions.
