Turkish Foreign Minister Is Set for Official Visit to Qatar on Tuesday
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Foreign Minister is set to travel to Qatar on Tuesday for a series of meetings focused on bilateral cooperation and regional developments, according to Foreign Ministry sources cited on Monday.
Hakan Fidan is expected to review preparations for the upcoming 12th High Strategic Committee meeting, which is scheduled to take place in Türkiye later this year under the joint chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to reports, discussions will also include reaffirming Türkiye’s support for Qatar following recent incidents in March and April, alongside broader regional security concerns.
Fidan is also expected to emphasize Ankara’s position on the importance of restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as vital for both regional security and global economic stability.
He is likely to underline that recent regional developments highlight the growing need for stronger cooperation in defense and military sectors, as well as enhanced connectivity projects that could contribute to long-term stability.
According to reports, he will also stress the urgency of resolving Gulf disputes through lasting diplomatic solutions and exchange views on ongoing mediation efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.
