Fidan Holds Talks with Hamas Delegation in Ankara on Gaza Situation

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met in Ankara with Mohammed Darwish, head of the Shura Council of Hamas, along with a accompanying delegation to discuss developments in Gaza and broader regional issues, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources on Saturday.

The discussions reportedly focused on ongoing efforts aimed at reaching a lasting peace in Gaza, as well as initiatives related to the delivery of humanitarian aid to the territory amid the continuing conflict.

During the meeting, Fidan emphasized that the wider regional war should not overshadow the Palestinian issue, and stated that Türkiye continues to draw international attention to what it describes as humanitarian consequences in Gaza and the West Bank.

He also reportedly criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza, including its expanding military presence and restrictions on humanitarian aid deliveries, describing them as unacceptable.

Fidan stressed the importance of sustained international backing for the Palestinian cause, particularly from Islamic countries and other states supporting Palestine, and said Türkiye would continue to take an active role in such diplomatic efforts.

He further reiterated Türkiye’s position opposing any measures that would result in the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
