Thai FM Expresses Disappointment Over Lack of US Backing

(MENAFN) Thailand’s foreign minister has reportedly voiced concern that the United States has not provided direct assistance to Bangkok as the country faces economic strain linked to the ongoing war involving Iran.

According to reports citing remarks published in the Washington Post, Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said that while US officials appear aware of the wider consequences of the conflict, there has been no direct outreach offering support to Thailand.

He was quoted as saying that there had been no communication from US officials indicating an intention to help Thailand manage the economic fallout. Instead, he noted that no concrete assistance proposals had been presented.

The minister referenced a general offer from US President Donald Trump, who suggested that countries experiencing energy shortages could purchase American oil and gas. Trump reportedly stated in a televised address that the United States has ample energy supplies available for export.
