Israeli Strikes Continue in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) The Israeli military carried out artillery bombardments and destroyed residential buildings in multiple villages across southern Lebanon on Saturday, at the same time as confrontations erupted between its troops and fighters from the Lebanese faction Hezbollah in the area of Al-Bayada.

According to an official state news agency, the shelling struck the villages of Braashit, Safad al-Battikh, and Touline, and later expanded toward Ghazieh and Froun in the southern region of the country.

The Israeli forces also launched artillery fire shortly after midnight against Majdal Zoun, Mansouri, and Beit al-Sayyad. This was followed by renewed shelling combined with machine-gun fire directed at Al-Bayada, where clashes reportedly took place between advancing Israeli units and Hezbollah fighters, as added by the news agency. In addition, the Israeli army deployed illumination flares over multiple villages in both the western and central areas.

In the Bint Jbeil district, homes in the Al-Jabana neighborhood were demolished by Israeli forces, while artillery fire also targeted the outskirts of Ghazieh at dawn. Despite a ceasefire announced on April 17 and later extended until May 17, Israeli operations and strikes in Lebanon have continued on a daily basis.
