Profile Articles

Katryna Niva is a PhD candidate at Duke University in the Cassar Lab. The focus of her dissertation research is the application of Cassar Lab instruments to rigorously understand the biological impacts of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE), with a specific interest on how this intervention affects the microbial community. This has included several surveys of the Planetary OAE case study underway in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She received her Bachelors in 2022 from Princeton University, where she worked with Dr. Satish Myneni to better understand how sea level rise is impacting halomethane production in mangrove sediment, a natural product that degrades stratospheric ozone.
