Dr Thomas West
- Lecturer in Physiotherapy/Research Fellow, La Trobe University
I am a Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist, lecturer and research fellow at La Trobe University and the La Trobe Sports and Exercise Medicine Research Centre. My PhD specifically investigated how ongoing symptoms and reduced function relate to the development of osteoarthritis in young adults with anterior cruciate ligament injuries.
My research aims to improve the lives of young adults and runners with or at risk of developing knee OA. Current projects underway examine the trajectory of knee osteoarthritis in 200 runners with and without a history of knee trauma, the long-term follow up of young adults with ongoing problems following knee injury and the safe return to running following diagnosis of osteoarthritis.
