Iran Reviews US Proposal, to Respond Through Pakistani Mediators

(MENAFN) Iran has stated that a recent US proposal, conveyed through Pakistani mediation, remains under internal review, with Tehran expected to deliver its official response after completing its assessment process.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told a news agency that the proposal is still being examined and that Iran will communicate its position to the Pakistani side once consultations are finalized.

According to the news agency, portions of a report published by US media outlet regarding a potential agreement between Tehran and Washington were described as “media speculation.” The outlet added that Iran’s negotiating team is primarily focused on what it described as efforts to bring an end to the ongoing conflict.

The report also indicated that nuclear-related issues are not currently part of the active discussion phase in the talks.

Separately, another news agency, citing an informed source, reported that no formal response has yet been issued to the latest US proposal, as some of its provisions are considered unacceptable by Iranian officials.

Taken together, the statements suggest that discussions remain at an early and sensitive stage, with both sides still far from final agreement and key issues unresolved.
