Israel Issues Evacuation Warnings for Multiple Southern Lebanon Villages
(MENAFN) The Israeli military issued warnings on Wednesday ordering residents of 12 villages in southern Lebanon to leave their homes immediately ahead of anticipated attacks, according to military statements.
Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army’s Arabic-language spokesperson, said the evacuation order applies to residents in the villages of “Kawthariyet al-Siyad, al-Ghassaniyeh, Mazraat al-Daoudiyeh, Bdeias, Rihan, Zellaya, al-Bazouriyeh, Harouf, Habboush, Ansariyeh, Qallawiyah and Deir al-Zahrani.”
“You must evacuate your homes immediately and move at least 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) away to open areas,” he said, according to reports.
He added that the warning was issued in advance of planned military operations.
Although a ceasefire was announced on April 17 and later extended until May 17, Israeli forces have continued carrying out near-daily strikes in Lebanon, along with widespread destruction of homes across multiple villages, drawing comparisons to the prolonged devastation in Gaza.
Since March 2, ongoing Israeli operations in Lebanon have reportedly killed 2,702 people and injured 8,311 others, while displacing more than 1.6 million people—around one-fifth of the population—according to the latest official figures.
