Iran Fire at Commercial Complex Near Tehran Leaves Eleven Dead

(MENAFN) A fire that broke out at a commercial complex near Iran’s capital has left 11 people dead, while at least 41 others have been injured, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

According to reports, Shahriar Governor Sajjad Baranji said the blaze erupted on Tuesday evening at the Arghavan complex located in Phase 4 of Andisheh, to the west of Tehran.

The facility is a large commercial site housing more than 250 business units along with 50 office spaces, he said.

Baranji noted that emergency crews from Shahriar and surrounding areas were quickly deployed after the incident was reported, with firefighting operations launched without delay.

He also stated that 41 injured individuals were either transported to hospitals or treated at the scene.

On Tuesday, the head of Andisheh’s Fire Department said that all individuals initially trapped by smoke and flames were safely evacuated and that the building had been fully cleared.

Officials explained that the fire spread rapidly due to the building’s composite exterior facade, which allowed flames to move quickly across its surface.

The exact cause of the incident is still under investigation.
