Brazil’s Lula Is Set for Possible US Trip to Meet Trump This Week

(MENAFN) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is expected to travel to the United States later this week for a meeting with US President Donald Trump, according to a Brazilian official on Monday.

Vice President Geraldo Alckmin told reporters in Sao Paulo that the exact timing of the visit has not yet been finalized, but confirmed that Lula intends to go to Washington for discussions with Trump.

Alckmin noted that the two leaders previously met in what he described as a positive atmosphere. He suggested that the upcoming visit could help reinforce what he called the “good chemistry” between the two presidents, saying it would benefit “two major countries and two major democracies in the West.”

The last meeting between Trump and Lula took place on October 26, 2025, on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.
