Fire Tears Through Multiple Vessels at Iran's Dayyer Port
(MENAFN) Flames tore through several commercial ships docked at Iran's southern port of Dayyer on Tuesday, with emergency crews racing to bring the blaze under control, Iran's semi-official media reported.
The cause of the outbreak remains undetermined, with authorities offering little clarity in the immediate aftermath. "The cause of the incident is not yet known and will be announced after firefighting operations are fully completed," the outlet added.
The incident lands at a deeply sensitive moment for the region. The Strait of Hormuz — one of the world's most strategically critical maritime chokepoints — remains on edge under an active ceasefire that halted a broader conflict ignited by US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. Whether the port fire carries any connection to the wider geopolitical tensions gripping the area has yet to be established, and no group has claimed responsibility.
Firefighting teams were still actively engaged at the scene as of the initial report, with a full official account of the incident expected only once containment operations conclude.
