US Envoy to Hold Talks with Israel on Easing Gaza Humanitarian Restrictions
(MENAFN) A senior envoy working under US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, is scheduled to meet Israeli officials on Monday to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, according to reports.
The discussions are expected to focus on easing restrictions on the entry of aid into the blockaded territory and reducing the scale of military activity in the area.
According to reports, the envoy is also anticipated to urge Israel to allow greater access for humanitarian supplies into Gaza, where conditions remain severe.
The visit follows earlier talks held by Mladenov with Hamas in Egypt regarding the implementation of Trump’s Gaza ceasefire framework. While no official details of those discussions were released, media reports claimed that efforts related to Hamas disarmament did not succeed.
According to reports, Hamas has maintained that the issue of its weapons can only be addressed within a broader political process that leads to the creation of a Palestinian state. The group has not publicly commented on either the talks or the media claims surrounding them.
Under the ceasefire plan announced in September 2025, a phased agreement was outlined that included a truce, partial Israeli withdrawal, the release of hostages, and expanded humanitarian aid deliveries.
Although the first phase saw the release of Israeli hostages, reports indicate that the agreement has not been fully implemented. Israeli operations have continued, resulting in significant casualties, while aid deliveries have reportedly fallen short of the agreed levels.
The situation in Gaza remains critical, with millions of residents facing worsening humanitarian conditions amid ongoing restrictions and continued instability.
