IDF Reports Interceptions as Cross-Border Tensions Continue with Lebanon
(MENAFN) Sirens were activated in northern Israel early Monday after the Israeli military said it intercepted multiple aerial objects, according to reports.
As stated by reports, the army said its air force shot down what it described as a “suspicious aerial target” before it crossed into Israeli airspace. It also reported that warning systems were triggered due to concerns about possible falling debris from interception operations.
The military further noted that additional interceptor missiles were launched toward two other aerial objects detected in an area where Israeli forces are operating in southern Lebanon, with assessments of the results still ongoing.
According to general accounts, Hezbollah said it had carried out multiple operations targeting Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon, describing them as responses to ceasefire violations and actions against civilians.
The group said it used drones and artillery strikes against troop concentrations in Naqoura and military positions in al-Bayyada, claiming to have caused direct damage.
As stated by reports, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have intensified since early March, contributing to significant casualties and displacement. Lebanese official figures indicate that thousands have been killed and more than a million people forced from their homes amid ongoing hostilities.
According to general accounts, a US-mediated ceasefire took effect on April 17 for an initial 10-day period and was later extended until mid-May, though both sides have continued to report violations and cross-border incidents.
