Gaza Woman Critically Injured Days Before Wedding After Shooting Incident
(MENAFN) A young woman in Gaza was left in critical condition after being struck by a bullet that entered her family home just days before her planned wedding, according to reports.
As stated by reports, 19-year-old Hala Salem Darwish was inside her home helping her family with preparations shortly before sunset when a bullet came through a window and hit her in the head, causing her to collapse in front of relatives. She was later transferred to intensive care, where her condition was described as critical and unstable.
Medical staff have not been able to perform surgery so far, as they are waiting for her condition to stabilize. The bullet remains lodged, and doctors say it has caused serious damage, leaving her in a life-threatening situation.
Her fiancé, Mohammed Shreihi, said the incident occurred just before their long-planned wedding.
“There were only 10 days left until our wedding,” he told Anadolu. “In a single moment, everything changed.”
He added that the couple had been preparing for the ceremony despite difficult circumstances.
“She was like any bride, full of joy and anticipation,” he said. “Now we are only hoping she survives.”
Her father also described the moment of the incident and its lasting emotional impact on the family.
“We were preparing food when suddenly an Israeli bullet came through the window and hit her,” he said. “She fell in front of us. I cannot forget that scene.”
According to reports, the family had been preparing for the wedding scheduled for early May, which they had hoped would be a moment of celebration despite ongoing hardships.
