Rising Casualties in Lebanon as Strikes Continue Despite Truce

(MENAFN) Israeli military operations in Lebanon have resulted in 20 deaths over the past 24 hours, pushing the overall number of fatalities since early March to 2,679, according to reports citing official data from the Health Ministry.

As stated by reports, an additional 46 individuals were wounded خلال the same period, raising the total number of injuries to 8,229 since the escalation began.

These latest incidents are described as further breaches of a temporary ceasefire that has been in place since mid-April. Despite the truce, hostilities have persisted, contributing to the worsening humanitarian situation.

According to general accounts, Israeli forces have intensified both aerial bombardments and ground operations following a cross-border attack launched by Hezbollah on March 2. Since then, the violence has forced more than 1.6 million people to flee their homes, based on official figures.

Efforts to halt the fighting included a ceasefire initiative announced by Donald Trump on April 17, initially set for 10 days and later extended by an additional three weeks, with the current deadline set for May 17.
