Maritime Alert Issued After Vessel Targeted Near Iranian Coast
(MENAFN) A cargo ship was reportedly targeted by small boats near Iran’s shoreline, according to reports referencing the UK Maritime Trade Operations on Sunday.
As stated by reports, the incident took place about 11 nautical miles west of Sirik, a location positioned along the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
According to general accounts, all crew members aboard the vessel were unharmed, and no environmental damage was reported following the encounter.
Authorities did not provide further details regarding the nature of the ship’s cargo or identify those responsible for the assault.
"Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity," UKMTO said.
