Israeli Strikes in Lebanon Cause New Casualties as Violence Continues

(MENAFN) Israeli attacks have killed 20 people across Lebanon within the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll since early March to 2,679, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry, as stated by reports.

The ministry also reports that 46 people are injured over the same period, raising the total number of wounded to 8,229 since the escalation began.

Officials describe the latest incidents as continued violations of a temporary ceasefire that came into effect in mid-April.

The Israeli military has intensified both air and ground operations in Lebanon following a cross-border strike by Hezbollah on March 2. The ongoing violence has displaced more than 1.6 million people, according to official Lebanese figures.

The ceasefire was initially announced by US President Donald Trump on April 17 for 10 days and was later extended by an additional three weeks until May 17, according to reports.
