LG Reviews Anti-Drug Campaign, District Action Plans

Srinagar- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Bhavan here to assess the progress of the ongoing“Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan” and evaluate district-wise action plans to combat drug abuse and narco-terrorism.

The meeting was attended by senior civil and police officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, and other top officials from the administration and Kashmir division.

Reviewing the progress made so far, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for a focused, time-bound and outcome-driven strategy over the next 78 days. He directed district administrations to ensure effective implementation of anti-drug measures at all levels with clearly measurable outcomes.

Sinha called for intensified grassroots engagement, particularly at Panchayat and ward levels, urging involvement of community stakeholders such as religious leaders, educators, traders, youth groups, and social activists to turn the campaign into a sustained mass movement.

Highlighting the role of youth in the fight against drug abuse, he emphasized greater engagement through sports and recreational activities. Deputy Commissioners were instructed to develop playfields in all Panchayats, strengthen sports infrastructure, and regularly organize competitions under the campaign to channel youth energy into constructive avenues.

Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics, the LG called for strict enforcement against drug traffickers. He directed authorities to implement Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) for suspension or cancellation of driving licences, passports, and other documents of those involved in drug peddling.
