Noida Airport To Start Operations On June 15, Indigo To Launch First Flight

(MENAFN- KNN India) Noida, May 2 (KNN) The newly-built Noida International Airport is all set to commence commercial operations from June 15 with the leading low-cost carrier IndiGo starting the inaugural flight.

IndiGo will operate the first flight from Noida International Airport, marking the start of scheduled passenger services, followed shortly by Akasa Air and Air India Express," Yamuna International Airport Private Ltd (YIAPL) said in a statement.

YAPL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG and is responsible for the implementation of the public-private partnership (PPP) project.

The Noida airport features one runway and one passenger terminal with a capacity to serve 12 million passengers annually. The airport's masterplan provides for further development over a 40-year concession period to serve over 70 million passengers annually.

The commercial operations of Noida airport is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, supporting economic development in the region and boost trade and investment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on March 28 this year inaugurated the first phase of the airport. The Phase I of the airport has been developed at a total investment of around Rs 11,200 crore.

Ever since the development of Noida airport began, the area around it has seen significant rise in economic activities which have resulted in land prices going up. Several real estate developers have launched their projects in the area.

The Noida airport is planned as a multi-modal transport hub with seamless integration across road, rail, metro, and regional transit systems. It is set to speed up industrial infrastructure development in the region and unlock massive economic opportunities in the adjoining districts. The airport is also expected to drive urbanisation.
