Iran FM Araghchi To Return To Pakistan After Oman Visit

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Iran's foreign minister to revisit Pakistan after Oman trip as mediation efforts continue despite stalled U.S.-Iran talks.

Abbas Araghchi is expected to return to Pakistan after completing a visit to Oman, according to Iranian state media reports. The visit comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to revive stalled negotiations.

Islamic Republic News Agency reported that Araghchi will stop again in Islamabad before heading to Russia, signaling continued regional engagement despite a lack of visible progress in recent talks.

Araghchi had left Islamabad on Saturday without any breakthrough in discussions aimed at reducing tensions, but Pakistani officials have maintained that mediation efforts remain open and ongoing.

He is expected to arrive in Islamabad again Sunday evening, where further meetings with Pakistani officials could take place as part of efforts to revive diplomatic channels.

Pakistan has positioned itself as a key intermediary in efforts to ease tensions between Iran and the United States, hosting indirect talks and facilitating communication between the two sides.

Recent developments, including the cancellation of a planned visit by U.S. officials, have added uncertainty to the negotiations raising questions about the near-term prospects for progress.

Oman has historically played a quiet but influential role in mediating regional disputes, particularly between Iran and Western powers, often hosting backchannel diplomacy during periods of heightened tension.
