Israeli Army Cuts Helicopter Ground Time in Lebanon Due to Drone Risks
(MENAFN) The Israeli military has reportedly reduced the time its helicopters spend landing inside Lebanon in an effort to lower the risk of being detected or targeted by Hezbollah drones, according to Army Radio on Wednesday.
The report said the decision is part of broader measures aimed at countering what it described as an increasing threat from explosive-laden drones used by Hezbollah against Israeli forces.
According to the broadcaster, military representatives recently took part in a closed-door session in the Knesset where they discussed the drone threat and presented operational responses.
Among the measures outlined were upgrades to soldiers’ personal weapons systems, including improved optics and fragmentation ammunition designed to enhance their ability to intercept aerial threats.
The army has also reportedly instructed units to minimize helicopter landing durations inside Lebanese territory, particularly during medical evacuation operations, in order to reduce exposure and limit the chance of detection or targeting by hostile forces.
