Mexico Deploys Massive Security Force After Major CJNG Arrests

(MENAFN) According to reports, Mexican authorities have deployed more than 130,000 military and security personnel across the country following the arrest of a senior cartel leader and his key financial strategist.

Security officials said the large-scale deployment was ordered to prevent possible retaliatory attacks after a significant operation targeting the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of the country’s most powerful criminal organizations.

The arrests included Audias Flores Silva, known as “El Jardinero,” and a senior associate identified as the group’s financial planner. Authorities described the operation as a major disruption to the cartel’s leadership structure, logistical networks, and financial operations.

Officials stated that the detainees are linked to serious criminal activity, including drug trafficking and weapons-related offenses, and that one of them is also subject to extradition proceedings requested by US authorities. Mexican prosecutors are additionally pursuing separate domestic charges related to violent crimes.

Security officials emphasized that the nationwide troop deployment was intended as a preventive measure to stabilize high-risk regions and deter coordinated cartel retaliation. Reinforcements were also concentrated in areas considered strongholds of the CJNG, with additional forces positioned at key transportation routes, border zones, and correctional facilities.

Authorities noted that regional security operations were also intensified in response to concerns that cartel factions could attempt to reorganize or escalate violence following the leadership disruptions.

The announcement highlights ongoing efforts by Mexican security forces to contain cartel activity through coordinated military, federal, and law enforcement operations across multiple states.
