Ukraine Votes to Prolong Martial Law, Mobilization
(MENAFN) Ukraine’s parliament has voted to extend both martial law and nationwide mobilization for an additional 90 days, continuing emergency measures first introduced after the outbreak of the war with Russia.
According to lawmakers, the Verkhovna Rada approved the extension on Tuesday, with 315 members voting in favor of prolonging martial law from May 4 to August 2.
A separate vote saw 304 lawmakers support the extension of general mobilization for the same period, as part of ongoing wartime measures.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced the results, noting that this is the 19th time the parliament has approved such extensions since the conflict began in 2022.
The proposals were submitted a day earlier by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of continued efforts to maintain national defense readiness under wartime conditions.
