Vance Raises Doubts Over Pentagon Iran Briefings, US Missile Stockpiles
(MENAFN) US Vice President JD Vance has repeatedly questioned the reliability of Pentagon briefings related to the conflict with Iran and has raised concerns about the state of US missile stockpiles directly with President Donald Trump, according to a report published on Monday.
Sources cited by a broadcaster said Vance communicated these concerns as personal assessments rather than directly accusing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine of providing misleading information to the president.
According to the report, Trump has continued to repeat statements attributed to Hegseth and Caine, including claims that the United States has “totally” destroyed Iran’s military capabilities, such as its air force and navy, while downplaying reported Iranian strikes against US assets in the region.
The report also noted concerns over the depletion of US missile interceptor reserves, which have been used extensively in response to waves of low-cost drones and missiles targeting American and allied positions across the region.
In a social media post dated March 2, Trump stated:
"The United States Munitions Stockpiles have, at the medium and upper medium grade, never been higher or better - As was stated to me today, we have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons."
