US Moves Forward with Potential Tunisia Border Security Deal

(MENAFN) The United States Department of State has approved a possible foreign military sale to Tunisia involving equipment for its Border Security Project Phase III, according to reports on Monday.

The proposed deal is valued at approximately $95 million and is intended to support Tunisia’s efforts to strengthen border control infrastructure and capabilities.

In a statement, the State Department said the sale would enhance Tunisia’s long-term ability to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as help it meet national defense requirements, according to reports.

The main contractors linked to the proposed package include L3Harris Technologies, based in Florida, and Toyota, identified in the statement as a Texas-based supplier involved in the project.

The approval represents an initial step in the US foreign military sales process, which still requires further formal agreements before any final transfer of equipment can take place.
