Brunei Trade Surplus Reaches USD1.13M in February 2026
(MENAFN) Brunei's total trade activity reached 1.13 billion U.S. dollars in February 2026, with the energy-rich sultanate posting a healthy trade surplus on the back of strong mineral fuel shipments, figures released Monday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics showed.
An official state media outlet reported that exports totaled 765.2 million dollars against imports of 366.8 million dollars, yielding a trade balance surplus of 398.3 million dollars for the month.
Mineral fuels dominated the export ledger, accounting for 69.1 percent of total outbound shipments, with chemicals making up a further 28.6 percent. Australia emerged as Brunei's single largest export destination, absorbing 25.1 percent of total exports, followed by China and Vietnam.
On the import side, mineral fuels again topped the breakdown at 36.8 percent, trailed by machinery and transport equipment at 25.0 percent and food products at 14.0 percent. Malaysia ranked as Brunei's primary import source, supplying 24.7 percent of total inbound goods, with Australia and China rounding out the top three trading partners.
