Israeli Defense Minister Warns of Escalation Against Iran Amid Truce Talks

(MENAFN) Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has issued stark warnings about the potential resumption of military operations against Iran, according to reports, suggesting that Israel is awaiting approval from the United States to proceed with renewed strikes.

He stated that Israel is prepared to continue its campaign and is waiting for a “green light” from Washington, adding that future actions could target key Iranian infrastructure and leadership structures. His remarks included threats of extensive destruction of energy and economic facilities.

The comments come as the United States has reportedly extended a ceasefire arrangement with Iran indefinitely while maintaining pressure through continued naval restrictions in regional waters. The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts and military posturing continue in parallel.

Iranian officials have rejected demands linked to limiting nuclear enrichment activities, insisting that their program is intended for civilian energy production and medical use.

Earlier phases of the conflict reportedly involved coordinated military actions involving both Israeli and US forces, with competing narratives over how the escalation began and the extent of international involvement.

The rhetoric has further intensified already heightened regional tensions, with ongoing uncertainty over whether diplomatic channels can prevent a renewed outbreak of hostilities.
