Fidan Discusses Iran Talks With US Negotiators
(MENAFN) Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation with US negotiators involved in ongoing efforts to resolve the conflict involving Iran, according to diplomatic sources.
Officials said the discussion focused on recent developments in negotiations between Washington and Tehran, as international mediation efforts continue to explore possible pathways toward de-escalation.
The talks come as regional diplomacy intensifies following a ceasefire brokered earlier in April, which was followed by an initial round of US–Iran discussions in Islamabad. Those talks did not result in an agreement, but efforts to restart negotiations are still ongoing.
Recent diplomatic activity has also included meetings between Iranian officials and senior Pakistani leadership, reflecting continued attempts to facilitate dialogue between the parties.
At the same time, planned visits by US envoys to Pakistan were reportedly cancelled, even as indirect communication channels remain active through regional intermediaries.
Key unresolved issues in the broader negotiations include disputes over maritime access routes, restrictions on shipping corridors, the handling of nuclear-related materials, and competing security concerns in the region, all of which continue to complicate diplomatic progress.
