Israel’s PM Orders Strikes Against Hezbollah Positions in Lebanon

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the military to carry out strikes against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, according to reports on Saturday.

The decision reportedly came after what Israeli authorities described as “numerous ceasefire violations” by Hezbollah, as stated in Israeli media reports cited by an Israeli newspaper.

Netanyahu instructed the army to respond “forcefully,” according to the same reporting.

The development comes amid an ongoing ceasefire arrangement between Israel and Lebanon. A truce was announced in mid-April and later extended, though it has remained fragile, according to reports.

Since early March, continued cross-border hostilities have persisted, with both sides accusing each other of violations. Lebanese authorities have reported thousands of casualties and widespread destruction during this period, while exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces have continued in southern Lebanon, as stated by reports.
