Israeli Attacks Kill Six in Southern Lebanon Despite Truce
(MENAFN) At least six people were killed and 17 others injured in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon on Saturday, in what local authorities described as continued violations of the ceasefire, according to reports.
A news agency said Israeli forces shelled multiple areas, including Qantara, Qusayr, Wadi Hassan, Yohmor al-Shaqif, and Houla, as stated by reports.
A drone reportedly struck a motorcycle and a truck in Yohmor al-Shaqif, with Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirming that four people were killed in that incident. Separately, two additional deaths and 17 injuries were reported following an airstrike on Safad al-Battikh, according to reports.
Israeli forces were also reported to be demolishing homes in the occupied town of Khiam using explosives, while a drone was observed flying at low altitude over the capital Beirut throughout the day.
The escalation comes amid continuing tensions in the region, with Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon ongoing since earlier cross-border hostilities involving Hezbollah, as stated by reports.
Lebanese authorities estimate that since early March, expanded Israeli strikes have killed nearly 2,500 people and displaced more than one million residents, according to official figures cited in reports.
