Israel Issues Warning to Southern Lebanon Residents Despite Ceasefire
(MENAFN) The Israeli army on Saturday cautioned civilians against returning to several villages in southern Lebanon, pointing to continued military operations even as a ceasefire remains in place, according to reports.
“It is not permitted to approach the area of the Litani River, the Salhani Valley, and the Saluki,” military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on the platform X, listing more than 50 affected villages.
Separately, the Israeli army reported carrying out overnight strikes on three locations in southern Lebanon, saying the attacks were aimed at rocket launch sites linked to Hezbollah, as stated by reports.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s official news agency indicated that the town of Houla, in the Marjayoun district, was also hit by Israeli artillery fire, according to reports.
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to extend the ceasefire by three weeks following a second round of high-level talks held at the White House, as stated by reports.
The truce had initially been declared for 10 days starting April 16, though it was later violated, according to reports.
