Iran Restarts Some International Flights from Tehran Airport
(MENAFN) Some international flight operations resumed Saturday morning at Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, according to reports.
The initial outbound flights from the Iranian capital were bound for Istanbul, Muscat, and Medina, as stated by reports.
This partial reopening follows earlier remarks by Ramin Kashef Azar, head of the airport’s city authority, who indicated that international passenger services would restart on Saturday, according to reports.
Flight activity had been heavily curtailed since late February, when hostilities escalated after a joint military campaign by the United States and Israel against Iran triggered retaliatory action from Tehran, as stated by reports.
A ceasefire brokered by Pakistan on April 8 has since paused the conflict, creating conditions for limited recovery in air travel, according to reports.
In parallel, diplomatic efforts remain ongoing. Representatives from Washington and Tehran previously met in Pakistan two weeks ago, and attempts are being made to organize another round of negotiations, as stated by reports.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is currently in Islamabad, while US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also expected to arrive in the Pakistani capital. However, the likelihood of immediate direct talks resuming appears limited, according to reports.
