Limited Shipping Activity Observed Near Strait of Hormuz
(MENAFN) Commercial maritime movement around the Strait of Hormuz stayed relatively restrained on Thursday morning, based on vessel-tracking data examined by Anadolu. The situation reflects continued ambiguity surrounding a possible ceasefire understanding between the United States and Iran, which has contributed to cautious navigation patterns in the region.
According to the data, five ships were recorded traveling from the Arabian Gulf toward the Gulf of Oman within the last 24 hours as of 0900GMT. Among the west-to-east routes, the bulk carrier Ascanio was en route to Shinas in Oman, while the Panama-flagged LPG tanker Sevan was heading toward Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. The bulk carrier LB Energy was on course for Santos in Brazil, the crude oil tanker Atlantis II was bound for Ras Al Kuh in Iran, and Nezami Ganjavi 6 was observed near the Khor Fakkan anchorage in Iran.
In the opposite direction, six vessels were identified moving east-to-west during the same period. These included Harapan Perdana IX and Polaris, which was directed toward Hamriyah Free Zone Port in the UAE. The Bahamas-flagged oil and chemical tanker Musik was also heading to Sharjah, while the general cargo vessel Jin Zeng 5 was sailing toward Mukalla in southeastern Yemen. Additionally, Arad 10 listed Bandar Charak in Iran as its destination, and Epaminondas was tracked near Mundra in India.
Separately, several of the ships appear in sanctions-related records. According to VesselFinder, Atlantis II is listed under US OFAC sanctions, while records from the Danish Maritime Authority indicate that Nizami Ganjavi is designated as an EU-sanctioned vessel.
