Over 7,000 Afghan Pilgrims Transferred To Saudi Arabia So Far: Hajj Ministry

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs (MoHRA) says the transfer of pilgrims from the Central and Balkh zones to Medina is continuing in an organized manner, and so far more than 7,000 pilgrims have been transported to Saudi Arabia through 23 flights operated by airlines.

In a statement, the ministry said the process, which began on Saturday of the current week, is continuing smoothly and on schedule.

According to the statement, under the planned arrangement for transporting pilgrims from the Central and Balkh zones, a total of 7,263 pilgrims had been transferred to Medina as of Friday. Of these, 3,572 pilgrims were from the Central zone and 3,460 pilgrims from the Balkh zone.

The ministry added that the transfer of pilgrims from the Herat zone is expected to begin in the coming days, after which pilgrims from that zone will be gradually and systematically transported to Medina.

It further noted that upon arrival in Medina, the pilgrims are being accommodated by the Relief and Transport Committee in contracted buildings located in the central area near the Prophet's Mosque, all equipped with essential facilities. Their three daily meals are also being prepared and distributed regularly through contracted kitchens.

In addition, according to an organized schedule prepared by the Rituals Committee, the pilgrims are being taken in groups-accompanied by assigned guides-to visit Rawdah (Riyad al-Jannah), Jannat al-Baqi, Quba Mosque, Qiblatain Mosque, Mount Uhud, and other religious and historical sites, using organized transportation.
