US Says Iran Ceasefire Extension to End on Sunday
(MENAFN) The United States has reportedly informed Israel that the recently extended ceasefire involving Iran is set to expire on Sunday, according to Israeli media reports.
An Israeli public broadcaster reported on Wednesday that US officials conveyed to Tel Aviv that the timeframe outlined by President Donald Trump for Iran is expected to conclude within days.
Citing an unnamed diplomatic source, the broadcaster said Trump is aiming to secure understandings with Iran rather than engage in open-ended negotiations.
Israeli officials were also quoted as saying that a breakthrough by Sunday appears unlikely.
They further described what they called “confusion” in US messaging, claiming that recent developments have sometimes been learned through media reports and social media posts.
Earlier on Wednesday, a White House official told a media outlet that the ceasefire could last between three and five days. An Israeli source, meanwhile, said the situation remains unclear and largely dependent on decisions from the US president, according to the broadcaster.
