Lebanese PM Accuses Israel of War Crimes Over Journalist Targeting
(MENAFN) Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has accused Israel of committing what he described as “war crimes” through its reported targeting of journalists, saying the pattern of attacks in southern Lebanon reflects a deliberate and repeated practice.
Salam stated that strikes on media workers, along with preventing emergency teams from reaching them and hitting the same sites again after responders arrive, amount to “clear war crimes.” He argued that these incidents are no longer isolated events but have become a consistent pattern that breaches international legal standards and norms.
He also emphasized that Lebanon intends to pursue accountability through international legal channels, saying, “Lebanon will spare no effort in pursuing these crimes before the relevant international bodies.”
Separately, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also accused Israel of intentionally targeting journalists, claiming the objective is to obscure its military actions in Lebanon. In a presidential statement, he said the attacks are aimed “to hide the reality of its aggressive acts against Lebanon.”
Aoun further described such conduct as “crimes against humanity” under international law and called for international intervention to halt these actions.
